  1. Well put. We seem to conveniently forget that we had been putting out the poor hand to the EU for our infrastructure, etc for the past thirty years. It didn’t seem so embarrassing then, but then it wasn’t so in the spotlight…

  2. does borrowing usually involved conditions?
    (apart from repayment schedules)
    i know the the imf didn’t impose any specific conditions but it did involve economic targets
